This morning I heard J, who was in the shower, laugh and say,
"I started the morning wiping two butts. Somebody ate all of my waffles. And now I get to take a cold shower! I'm not upset. It's just par for the course."
A minute or two passed before I heard laughing again.
"AND there's no soap!!"
It was certainly a most fitting way for a dad of seven to start Father's Day. But it also got me thinking about how thankful I am to be married to this man who loves his kids, can laugh at the chaos, and who truly walks through every day with a servant's heart.
He works hard (some days at more than one job) to support 9 people. His day starts at 4:15AM, when he gets up before everyone else and goes to work. I am at my mom's most evenings, so he flies solo for the evening routine. He comes home from work, goes to the grocery store if necessary, makes dinner, oversees that everyone does the their chores / showers / brushes teeth etc., and puts the kids to bed. Because he goes to work so early, he goes to bed at the same time Baby Sis does - and starts the whole thing over again the next day.
And he does it with a good attitude.
I don't think I give him nearly enough recognition for all that he does.
So for Father's Day, I wanted to share a compilation of some of our favorite Rad Dad photos!
This is really just perfection on so many levels! :D
When J and I met, Biggest Brother and I were already a dynamic duo.
He didn't have to be Dad.
He chose to be.
Adoption day 2004
new additions
long nights with sick kids
birthday confetti firing squad
the flag he hand stitched for Big Sis' soccer team
not helpful when it comes to family photos
There were originally plans to put a dad hammock up there.
(It shouldn't be a wonder that Younger Brother climbs everything!)
Happy Father's Day to a super rad dad!!!
Thank you for all you do!
