Buccaneers and Beauty Queens

I am so thankful that I am blessed to get to enjoy the best of both worlds with my children every day! The boys and the girls are both so much fun in totally different ways! Here are the buccaneers and the beauty queens....at least that's what they've decided to be today.

Younger Brother is scoping out the situation and Biggest Brother is ready for action. But make no mistake, Younger Brother is scrappy when he needs to be!

warding off the neighbors across the street...frightening

He's actually a pirate ninja...and therefore has no need to actually see his opponent.

Inside, Big Sis was teaching Littlest Sis the ins and outs of dress-up! Very sweet of her to share her earrings...though I'm having a bit of a Culture Club flashback.

She's a good big sis!

Priceless!

"Welcome to Agape Land"

(If you are unfamiliar with the reference, Agape Land is a song from Bullfrogs and Butterflies. It's very Big Sis!)

We live near an old Air Force base, and occasionally very loud jets fly over our house. Sis does not like them one bit! She thinks any loud noise she hears when she's sleeping is the jet that scared her a few months ago. Today she was napping and Biggest Brother made a huge thud in the room next to her. I went in to console her to find that she was totally soaked from a faulty pull-up. Sooo, so much for nap time. She was more than happy to forfeit her nap for some true quality girl time! Her babies joined us, and were the first to try out the clean sheet.

Once she realized I was staying, she hauled out her purse and began digging through it for all of the girl time fixins. First, the lip gloss.

Next, the jewelry.

She chose the perfect accessories for mommy too!

Can't forget ankle bracelets!

A large plane did actually fly over in the course of our play time. I explained that the planes are just on their way to their home. And they have to fly over our house to get to theirs. She seemed happy with that explanation.

Yes, I confess. This is my daughter's shoe collection. And yes, they all fit her. She loves shoes! I also confess that this is not the complete collection. However, in my defense...everyone knows she's a shoe connoisseur, and she has acquired a great many of these via Christmas and Birthday etc. So there! :)

Peril on the High Seas

It's time once again for Vacation Bible School! The kids love it! This year's theme is Pirates. They will be going every evening for the next week. Which by the way, is way outside my comfort zone! We don't even leave our kids with non-family babysitters. My son's friend is in his class this year, so he's very excited about that. Here they are being pirates..

But of course, the true peril on the high seas took place before we ever left the house. I had just gotten everyone ready to walk out the door. I instructed Younger Brother to go potty before we left, and shortly thereafter heard him yelling "mommy" between his tearful sobs. Biggest Brother served as interpreter and explained that Younger Brother had had a slight mishap involving legos while using the facilities. I was picturing one or two pieces. I'm still trying to figure out how he managed to get this far in the process while holding that many legos! That storm trooper is not having a good day!

Memories and Celebrations part 2

Birthdays are a big deal in our house! So instead of celebrating just the birth day, celebrations extend to include birthday eve and birthday weekend (the weekend closest to the actual birthday.) And Big Sis had quite the birthday weekend! You've seen the memories. And now, the celebrations.........

setting out the goodies on birthday eve

Her day began with a princess purse, which she kept on her arm as she began checking out her surprises.

First Barbie

Daddy had the favorite gift of the day...a set of play dishes!

New Kicks

Here is Biggest Brother quickly losing patience with Younger Brother calling him "Strawberry Shortcake."

And here's Younger Brother demonstrating what Biggest Brother did in response to his taunts. Daddy said to Biggest Brother, "Did you just hit her present?" Biggest Brother replied, "No! I just hit him!"

Littlest Sis watching the festivities...and the brawl

checking out how Barbie's hair changes color in cold water

Barbie enjoyed a bubble bath in the sink.

Next, it was on to Grandma K's house! Grandma got Sis a very sweet vanity for her room. I didn't think Sis would even know what a vanity was, but she knows it's girly, and she made a bee-line for it the second we walked in the door!

Some New Shades

That's one large cupcake!

Day 2 of the birthday festivities....it was on the Grandpa G's house for a family get together and trains!

This gift was a favorite....It's a talking mirror that says, "You're a pretty princess!" "You're beautiful!" and "How pretty!" Of course, she loved it!

Baby got a new car seat.

Sis "leaving" with baby

If you're going to eat with your fingers, do it with pinky raised in true princess fashion!

Littlest Sis thinks it's fun to go to Grandpa's house too!

wearing the BirthdayPrincess hat featured in the last post

Once again.......HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG SIS!!!

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
