All In a Day's Work

As I pulled up to the farm this morning the sun was rising behind the yellowing leaves of the trees. I could tell it would be the perfect brilliant fall morning for, yes of course, picture taking! Thankfully, I came prepared. :)

Every work day starts the same...with Cowboy poking his nose over the front gate to display how he is patiently, or not so patiently waiting for breakfast.

It's my favorite time to photograph them, as they are particularly attentive when the anticipation of food is involved!
.
The good, the bad, and the ugly.
Well actually, they're all good, only ornery on occasion, and none of them are ugly - at all! :)
From Left: Buckeye, Dew, and Ace are the farm's newest residents.

I love this shot!

Cowboy and Scarlet are the farm veterans.
He's top of the pecking order and she is the most "mature" horse at the farm.
Both were there long before me.

The barn matriarch is entitled to some time to sleep in the sun.

Not a bad set of faces to have to see first thing in the morning!
But I couldn't leave out the other set...

Tommy the diabetic wonder cat.
The piles of souvenir carnage he used to leave in the barn in his more sprightly days were legendary!

Though more recently he prefers to have his food brought to him, and himself brought to the food. He's earned it!

And last but not least, barn newcomer, Joey. Joey was an indoor kitty who earned himself a ticket outdoors. But he doesn't seem to mind. Though, he does still exhibit some "previously a house cat" characteristics. While Tommy strolled away disinterested in my picture taking, Joey was happy to have all eyes on him...

I think this is his sultry-crawl-across-the-beach pose. :)

And thus ends a typical morning.
Well, there was feeding, watering, and a bunch of poop scooping in there somewhere...but who could mind!
