Grandpa G got this excavation kit for Biggest Brother. I told him that we would find time on a weekend to do it together. He is very interested in fossils and dinosaurs these days, and has been highly anticipating our excavation date! 
We had the perfect weather to set up our excavation site on the driveway.
The kit comes with a chisel, brush, goggles, and block of cement/sand or something like that. And inside it are all of the bones to make a model dino skeleton once they have been extracted.
As with real excavation, it was a long and delicate process...
...but he was loving every minute of it.
It took us the better part of the afternoon. And we both ended up a little sunburned, but it was actually a lot of fun!
The first full extraction!
We put all of the bones into a bucket of water to soak the remaining sand off of them. And we are still soaking a couple smaller blocks in search of one or two remaining pieces. I will post a picture of the final product once he gets it all assembled.Thanks Grandpa G...that was fun!

That looked like such a fun project! I was driving around looking for garage sales and was getting lost as usual so It was nice to see you guys outside! I think even I would have loved that project as a kid...very cool :)
