This morning, Big Sis looked up at me with her big blue eyes and asked me for a drink of my water. I have a cold and didn't want her drinking after me. So I said, "Go ask Daddy to get you your water, Beautiful Eyes."She returned shortly thereafter in tears, holding her water, but shaking her head and saying "eyes."
Apparently, she was crestfallen to have received only water and not "beautiful eyes!"
As amusing as it was, I felt so bad! That's the second time this week that I have said something to be nice and ended up unintentionally insulting her! Way to go Mommy! Looks like I still have a lot to learn about raising girly girls! :)
